Family Resource Centers

What is a Family Resource Center (FRC)?
Family Resource Centers are neighborhood-based organizations that provide services and resources to support families and strengthen communities. FRCs view families as important advocates for children and local communities, and work with families in a spirit of mutual respect.

The GraceSource Family Resource Centers are a community-based program assisting families to identify and build upon their strengths so they can become more empowered and self-sufficient. We offer center-based services such as community workshops, classes and activities; emergency basic needs; and resource education. In addition, our home-based services, facilitated by a dedicated case manager, include family development education, school readiness assistance, resource attainment services, child development and literacy education.

Our goals are to assist families to…
• Increase self-sufficiency
• Increase family empowerment
• Discover and utilize community resources
• Create an educationally inspiring home environment for children

Services are free to the public and participation in all FRC programs is completely voluntary and confidential.

What is home visiting?
Home visiting is a researched-based approach to serve families. Often based from a community FRC, Home Visitors are paraprofessionals trained to deliver services and work with families in their home. Family action plans are developed through assessments and discussion to track the families’ progress towards goals important to the family. Home Visitors are supported by a multidisciplinary team of professionals, who help guide the Home Visitor in their work with families.

GraceSource’s Family Resource Centers are located on elementary school campuses in Olivehurst (Ella) and West Linda (Cedar Lane). The centers offer a welcoming environment for families to come and receive services and referrals. The centers also operate as the base of our home visitation program. In the last six years, we have served over 1,000 families. We receive referrals from a variety of sources including schools, county departments, and clinics in addition to a considerable amount of self referrals. If you would like to become a referral source for our centers, please request a referral form for your organization.

Who do we serve?
Different programs allow us to serve different populations. Currently, our resource center services are available to all Yuba County families. Our Supporting Father Involvement program is open to both Yuba and Sutter county residents.

GraceSource’s Family Resource Centers are the result of a community partnership. Our partners include Yuba County Health and Human Services Department, Marysville Joint Unified School District and the First 5 Yuba Commission. If your organization would like to partner with GraceSource to bring these kinds of services to your community, please contact us.

If you would like to refer a couple or yourself to our resource centers you can either submit a form online here or click on the pdf file below and fax it into our center.
